Only three college programs remain on the list of No. 1 prospect RJ Barrett. The potential destinations are shrinking. The 19-year-old Canadian sent out a tweet Saturday with his image along with the logos of Duke, Oregon, and Kentucky athletics, signifying that he’s cut down his number of selections.

Before this update, RJ Barrett originally was choosing among five schools that include Michigan and Arizona last August.

Also worth noting was Barrett’s decision to reclassify to enter college this year instead of 2019. This was largely spurred by his strong showing in the recently concluded FIBA U-19 Basketball World Cup, where he led Canada to win the championship. He paced the team in both points (21.6 points per game) and assists (4.6). Barrett also bagged the tournament’s MVP award, upping his college basketball stock even more.

It is hard to describe how good he was in those games, but being a year younger than everyone on the court (at the time), he destroyed the nation's best American players with ease.

In the semifinals, Barrett put up a monster performance to defeat Team USA and make scouts drool all over, stuffing the stat sheet with 38 points, 13 rebounds, and five assists in a 99-87 win.

Kentucky’s John Calipari called the shots for Team USA in that tournament so he had a first-row seat in seeing Barrett wreak havoc in the court – one thing he wants Barrett to do in Lexington starting in the upcoming college basketball season. But first, the Wildcats will have to beat out Duke and Oregon in the recruitment wars.
