Novak Djokovic is currently waiting in quarantine in Australia awaiting a ruling on the appeal of his visa cancellation. As of right now, Djokovic is in danger of getting deported from the country ahead of the Australian Open because of his COVID-19 vaccination status. After he announced a medical exemption from the vaccine earlier in the week, there was national outrage, followed by Djokovic getting stopped at the border because he wasn't able to prove that he could actually enter the country.

Meanwhile, Djokovic's family is going crazy over this saga. Novak Djokovic's father, Srdjan Djokovic, is absolutely livid at the treatment of his son, and he's going to absolutely bonkers lengths to describe the situation.

Via The Sydney Morning Herald:

“Jesus was crucified on the cross … but he is still alive among us. They are trying to crucify and belittle Novak and throw him to his knees,” he said.

Srdjan Djokovic also directly called out Australian Prime Minister Scott Morrison multiple times, effectively calling him inhuman.

Novak Djokovic's brother, Djordje Djokovic, claims the tennis star “was taken to a migrant hotel to a dirty room without any belongings” and that he's being “treated like a criminal.”

Not to be outdone, Novak Djokovic's mother, Dijani Djokovic, had plenty more to say:

“This is now a political point – it is scandalous. [He is] in a dirty room, without contact with us. This is purely a political attack on Novak Djokovic.”

She called Djokovic a “sacrificial lamb” and a “revolutionary who is changing the world”.

“I hope they won’t clip his wings as they had intended,” she said. “We will give him power and energy with prayers and kind messages to remain true to himself.”

Novak Djokovic is expected to be held in Melbourne until at least Monday as the appeals process plays out. The Australian Open will begin on Jan. 17.
