Nikola Jokic just reminded everyone why he's the reigning MVP this season. The Denver Nuggets center put the team on his back on Sunday night to come roaring back against the New Orleans Pelicans.

The Nuggets star imposed his will throughout every facet of the game with 46 points, 12 rebounds, 11 assists on an immaculate 16-for-22 shooting from the floor. He was also active on the defensive end, finishing with an eye-popping seven combined steals and blocks on the night.

But in typical Joker fashion, the Nuggets big man sounded like he had just had a pedestrian outing when it was the furthest thing from it.

Via Mike Singer of the Denver Post:

“I was making shots, I was aggressive,” said Nikola Jokic on his performance Sunday. “It was a really good period.”

Instead, his coach and Nuggets teammates did the talking for him. Aaron Gordon, who was Denver's second-leading scorer on the night with 28, was vocal on why Nikola Jokic is the MVP.

“This dude is incredible, man. He's the MVP,” declared Gordon. “I believe that. He's coming out night in, night out putting up ridiculous numbers and we're winning.”

“What a luxury it is to have the MVP in an overtime game,” Nuggets head coach Michael Malone said.

Even longtime Nuggets head coach George Karl got in on the MVP love for Nikola Jokic. The veteran coach dubbed the Serbian center as the greatest player to ever play for the franchise. He certainly looked the part on Sunday night.

Jokic has been a one-of-a-kind player that has broken the mold for what centers are capable of in this league. His stat line on the evening broke several records that further cement that he's blazing a trail all of his own making.

Nikola Jokic will take the Denver Nuggets as far as he can take them. He may not win the award again this season, but his value to his team is unquestioned.
