Denver Nuggets shooting guard Will Barton suffered a right hip injury Saturday night at home against the Phoenix Suns and will undergo an MRI Sunday to determine the severity of the ailment. Barton was wheeled off the court on a chair after staying on the ground for a while.

Barton told reporters after the game he felt and heard a pop. The scoring guard won't play today versus the Golden State Warriors.

Barton scored 14 points before getting hurt. The 27-year-old averaged 15.7 points, 5.0 rebounds and 4.1 assists for the Nuggets last season. He shot 45.2 percent from the field, 37.0 percent from beyond the arc and 80.5 percent from the free-throw line. Denver signed Barton to a four-year, $54 million deal on the first day of free agency back in July.

Hopefully this isn't a serious injury for Will Barton, who is a microwave scorer for the Nuggets off the bench. He holds career averages of 10.5 points, 3.9 rebounds and 2.3 assists in 397 NBA games with the Portland Trail Blazers and Nuggets.
