The Edmonton Oilers are gearing up for Game 7 of the Stanley Cup Final on Monday against the Florida Panthers, and they will try to make history by finishing off a comeback from a 3-0 series deficit with a win, and veteran Corey Perry got real on the emotions that he is feeling heading into the massive game.

“You grew up as a kid, playing on the street, Stanley Cup Final Game 7. Now it's a reality,” Corey Perry said, via NHL Public Relations on X.

Corey Perry has a Stanley Cup under his belt with the Anaheim Ducks in the 2006-07 season, a long time ago. He spent most of his time in the NHL with the Ducks, playing 14 different seasons there. Since, he has played with the Dallas Stars, Montreal Canadiens, Tampa Bay Lightning, Chicago Blackhawks and now the Oilers. Monday's game is perhaps the biggest game that Perry will play in his career. Being part of a team to pull off a 3-0 series comeback in the Stanley Cup Final would be historic.

Perry is much more of a depth player for the Oilers in this run, as players like Connor McDavid and Leon Draisaitl do the heavy lifting. Still, it has to be helpful to have someone like Perry in the locker room, someone who has been through it and lifted the Stanley Cup before.

Game 7 presents legacy-defining moment for the Oilers

The Oilers have a number of very talented players, with Connor McDavid and Leon Draisaitl as the headliners. McDavid is known as essentially the unanimous best player in hockey, while Draisaitl is a former Hart Trophy winner himself and is right up there as well. In the past, Edmonton has had disappointing playoff runs, with those two players catching criticism.

McDavid is having a great playoff run, with eight goals and 34 assists for 42 points in 24 games played, according to NHL.com. He would undoubtedly be the favorite for the Conn Smythe if the Oilers end up winning Game 7. In the first six games of this series against the Panthers, McDavid has put up three goals with eight assists for 11 points total.

Draisaitl has not disappointed either, as he has scored 10 goals with 21 assists for 31 points in 24 playoff games, according to NHL.com. He went without a point in each of the first three games agains the Panthers, then dished out two assists in Game 4, and one assist in Game 6. It would be huge for him to find the back of the net in Game 7, as he has not yet scored in this series.

If the Oilers can pull off one more win on the road in Game 7 against the Panthers, McDavid and Draisaitl will go down in history for completing one of the most impressive comebacks in the history of the league.
