Evander Kane is now unemployed after getting his contract terminated by the San Jose Sharks due to a reported violation of COVID-19 protocols. While many thought that he'd be a long shot to get signed right away by an NHL team because of his issues off the ice, it appears that there's at least one team that's shown interest in the embattled forward — the Edmonton Oilers, whose general manager, Ken Holland, had a pretty telling reaction when asked about Kane.

As though to parrot Holland’s thoughts, Oilers star forward Connor McDavid spoke to the media and sounded like someone who would have no problem playing alongside Kane.

Via Sean Amato of CTV News Channel:

Evander is an amazing player,” McDavid said. “He's had lots of success over the last couple of years and whatever else has been going on is not something that I look into much.”

“The public opinion is something that matters a lot, but we're here to try to win games, and try to put together a good team on the ice. And if Kenny thinks that's what he can do, that's what he can do.”

Kane also ran into controversy even before the 2021-22 NHL season started when he received a 21-game suspension for using a fake vaccine card and was also investigated after his wife alleged him of making bets on NHL games.
