Despite asking management to trade him, Sacramento Kings‘ forward Rudy Gay is likely to remain with the team as general manager Vlade Divac announced recently that they are planning to keep him.

But even if the 48-year-old executive said that, rumors continue to swirl around possible destinations for Gay if he does get moved. With the Kings' need for depth at the point guard position, potential trade partners for the University of Connecticut product emerged.

According to ESPN's Zach Lowe, the Oklahoma City Thunder are one of the teams looking to add the 6-foot-8 forward's services to their team:

“The trade front is quiet now; everyone in the bloated middle is waiting to see how good they are before pivoting up or down. The Kings may be the best bet to act early, since Gay politely told them he would very much like to leave. Keep an eye on the Thunder among potential Gay suitors.”

Oklahoma City has an influx of point guards on their roster plus their promising small forward, Andre Roberson, as possible trade baits. Future draft picks can also be included in a package. Should this trade materialize, the Thunder can once again position themselves as strong contenders in the Western Conference.

Rudy Gay may not be enough as Kevin Durant's replacement, but he would be an upgrade at the three position from what the team currently has, and he could just be the perfect Robin to Russell Westbrook's Batman.
