Cameron Smith is living the high life right now, having just produced one of the single greatest final rounds in PGA Tour history. His -8 final round propelled him to his first-ever Open Championship victory, and he was absolutely delighted to have achieved the feat. While it seemed nothing could bring him down, Smith seemed rather caught off guard by a question from a reporter, who was asking him whether he'd consider the jump to LIV Golf. In an answer that won't exactly have golf fans feeling confident in Cameron Smith's PGA future, the Australian champ responded, via Brendan Portah, saying that he is focused on playing golf and would be letting his team handle “those things.”
Cam Smith was asked about rumors linking him to LIV, was fairly irritated by the question saying he just won The British Open. Added he let’s his team handle those things and he tries to win golf tournaments.

Most PGA Tour fans were probably hoping that Smith would adamantly shut down the links to LIV Golf following his first major victory. That wasn't the case, however, as while he didn't seem too open to discussing the Saudi Golf league, he certainly did not erase fears that he may make the move that many of his fellow tour members did in recent months.
Smith was clearly irritated by the question, likely preferring to talk more about his heroics at the Open Championship, rather than what would be a very unpopular career move for the 28-year-old. Still, he didn't outright deny the possibility of joining LIV Golf, though he maintained that he's just focusing on playing golf, and in this case, winning a major tournament.
Smith certainly could have done a lot more to quell the worries of fans, and he'll likely have to face this question at least a few more times until a distinct answer is given. For now, he's going to celebrate his historic performance at St. Andrews.
