Neeko was once a meta champion all throughout pub games and even picked on most professional games back then. Our friendly curious Chameleon has fallen off due to her nerfs and changes in items and key stones. Now, she rose to the top regarding her win rate after patch 12.4 changes. She also rose up in terms of her pick rate, gaining popularity in pub games. With her additional buffs from the patch, she is now more viable to play as a meta champion. She got buffs up to the point that she can enter, once again, the professional stage in the near future.
Here is a list of Neeko's buffs based on Patch 12.4:
Base stats
- Gameplay (hitbox) radius: 80 ⇒ 65
Q: Blooming Burst
- Additional scaled bloom damage: 40/60/80/100/120 (+20% AP) ⇒ 40/65/90/115/140 (+20% AP)
W: Shapesplitter

QoL Changes
- Neeko’s real sho’ma: When playing as Neeko, your center HUD (i.e. the buff icons above your skills) will now always display your actual buffs, rather than the buffs of the ally you are disguised as if using Passive – Inherent Glamour. Enemies who click on you will still see the buffs of the ally you are disguised as in the target UI at the top of their screen.
Giving her Q a damage buff as well as a big cooldown decrease on her deception skill W Shapesplitter is not the main point of her buff. Her hitbox was the winner from having one of the game's largest hitbox at 80 units down to mage size of 65 units. Now, skill shots are easier to dodge with her current hitbox. It is only appropriate for our Curious Little Chameleon due to her slim character design.
We've seen what our Curious Chameleon can do. Neeko offers poke damage, utility, deception, and crowd control which makes her playable on any lane. Before the update, Neeko had approximately less than 50% win rate on all ranks, mostly picked for the mid lane. She was inferior to most mages due to her damage output. With the removal of some key items on Neeko, her utility was not on par as her kit before.
While we still don't know how Neeko would actually fit in the professional scene, Neeko mains are surely happy about the changes and her popularity rising in League of Legends. Let's hope our Curious Chameleon can take on highly contested mid laners to make her earn her keep in the ranks.
