Justin Holiday says he's signing with the Indiana Pacers because “it was the best situation I had at this time.”

Holiday, who will be playing with his younger brother Aaron Holiday on the Pacers, has heard nothing but good things about the Indiana franchise.

“It was the best situation I had at this time,” Holiday told Scott Agness of The Athletic. “We all know how long my free agency took, and the Pacers obviously being a contender every year and going to the playoffs, and then also them having my brother was something that was very, very enticing for me. To be able to be a part of that culture and play with my brother, I think it made it pretty simple where I needed to go.

“They’re a good organization, an organization that appreciates guys who come in and work hard, and somebody like myself who is going to come in and do my job every day. Day in and day out, no matter what happens, you’re going to get me. I’m going to give you everything I can. I think they really appreciate that.

“I’m going to come in and play defense and offensively, shoot the ball well and use my cutting (to get open). All of the things that I do on the court will help this team. Everybody needs shooting and defense, so I think I’ll be good.”

The Pacers have bad a productive offseason. Along with adding Justin Holiday, Indiana acquired Malcolm Brogdon from the Milwaukee Bucks and signed small forward Jeremy Lamb.

Holiday played with the Chicago Bulls and Memphis Grizzlies last season. He averaged 10.5 points, 3.9 rebounds and 1.8 assists in 82 games while shooting 38.6 percent from the field, 34.8 percent from beyond the arc and 89.6 percent from the free-throw line.
