Indiana Pacers shooting guard Victor Oladipo won the Most Improved Player of the Year award last season after averaging a career-high 23.1 points per game in his first season with the Pacers.

However, now that he's not sneaking up anyone and teams have film on him, Victor Oladipo's numbers have gone down this season across the board. He's averaging less points and shooting worse from the field and the 3-point line compared to last year.

Pacers head coach Nate McMillan, though, is pleased with how his young star has handled the increased attention on him and says it's going to get even tougher as the season moves along.

“He’s still young and he’s still finding his way,” McMillan said on Duke coach Mike Krzyzewski's Sirius radio show, via Scott Horner of Indy Star. “Having success last year, he’s learning that it gets even harder.

“Teams are preparing for you a little different than they were last year. He’s letting his teammates have more opportunities. He’s playing the game the right way.”

Victor Oladipo missed 11 games due to a knee injury in late November/early December. The Pacers went 7-4 during that stretch.

Overall on the season, Victor Oladipo is averaging 19.5 points, 5.8 rebounds and 5.2 assists per game while shooting 43.3 percent from the field, 34.3 percent from beyond the arc and 72.4 percent from the free-throw line.

Indiana lost to the Philadelphia 76ers on Thursday. The Pacers are now 29-15 on the season. Oladipo finished with 15 points, two rebounds and seven assists in 34 minutes.
