The New England Patriots head coach Bill Belichick spoke to reporters in a press conference ahead of this weekend's matchup with the Kansas City Chiefs. Belichick is not a man of many words, but he did reveal he experiences certain emotions that most people may be surprised about.

ESPN staff writer Mike Reiss reported Belichick's response when a reporter asked him if he ever gets nervous before games.

“Yeah, every week. They all count in this league. Just let me know the next game that doesn't matter, so I can take that into account.”

Belichick reiterated how important each game is and getting nervous is understandable considering the circumstances of playing at this level.

“Just let me know the ones that don't matter, I'll make sure I don't get excited for those. Nervous? Sure. You want to go out there and do well. There's an anxiety. We all have things in the game that we have to do. You want to perform them well, not let your team down, because everyone is counting on you to do your job, and you're counting on everybody else to do theirs.”

It's surprising to hear that Bill Belichick gets nervous considering how he handles himself out on the field, but it's completely understandable given the nature of the league. The playoffs bring forth an entirely different atmosphere, but Belichick has been to the playoffs many times and will be coaching in his 41st postseason game.

The Patriots have their work cut out for them if they hope to stop Patrick Mahomes and the Kansas City Chiefs number one offense on Sunday.
