New England Patriots quarterback Tom Brady made history on Thursday night as he became just the third player in NFL history to reach 500 touchdown passes. Of course, all 500 of those TDs have been with Bill Belichick as his head coach.

After the game, Belichick gave props to his all-time great quarterback — the only one he’d rather have.

“It’s tremendous,” Belichick said after the game per PatriotsWire. “That’s a lot of touchdown passes to a lot of different guys, too. No quarterback I’d rather have than Tom Brady. He does a great job week-in, week-out — year-in, year-out. All the situations, he does a great job.”

Despite Belichick’s flowery words, his relationship with Brady has reportedly not been rosy for quite a while. After nearly two decades together, the friction between the two has gradually built up over the years.

However, the two of them are still together, probably because they want to win football games a lot. So even with all their problems, they are seemingly willing to put up with one another because as they’ve proven again and again, they get the job done on the field.

Even after 500 touchdowns, Brady doesn’t seem to be slowing down much at age 41. With three more TD passes against the Colts, that's now 12 for him on the season through five games as he's well on pace toward another excellent season.

So if he still wants to go through with his plan to play well into his 40s, Belichick is apparently open to having him for as long as he’s able to go.
