Just about everyone expected the New England Patriots to make quick work of the Jacksonville Jaguars in Week 17, and that's just what occurred on Sunday. The Patriots clinched a spot in the playoffs in the blowout victory against Trevor Lawrence's Jaguars and just about everyone was fired up over the berth. Well, everyone except Bill Belichick, that is. Coach Belichick, as usual, showed minimal emotion when discussing the win with reporters, via Ben Volin.

With just about zero emotion on his face and his voice as monotone as ever, Belichick addressed the media, exclaiming that it is “exciting to be back in the playoffs” and that his team “made some progress” on Sunday.

The Patriots were not expected to be contenders this year. With rookie quarterback Mac Jones under center and a swath of new faces on both sides of the ball, New England's young core was anticipated to be in the midst of a rebuilding year. Low and behold, Belichick managed to get the best out of his team once again and secured the squad a playoff berth. Despite that, Belichick didn't even crack a soft smile while addressing the media, maintaining his unmatched level of emotionlessness.

No one was expecting Belichick to be jumping out of his seat over a playoff berth, but showing some teeth after a successful season couldn't hurt, could it Bill?

New England wraps up its regular season with a road game against the Miami Dolphins on Sunday, but don't expect Belichick to have a different tone when the season is officially concluded, regardless of where New England ends up seeded for the playoffs.
