The New England Patriots have been the pinnacle of success with Bill Belichick leading the way. Belichick is considered one of the best head coaches of all-time in the NFL and Colin Cowherd took it even further.

On Cowherd's show The Herd, the radio-show had some big-time praise for Bill Belichick. Cowherd said, “there's never been a gap in coaching like Belichick has had in the NFL”. Here's the full clip for your viewing pleasure.

Since becoming the Patriots head coach in 2000, New England has been one of the best dynasties in pro sports history. In his 19 years as head coach, Belichick has won 225 games—30 of them in the playoffs.

In addition, Belichick has helped win six Super Bowls with the Patriots—including three in the past five seasons. There has always been a debate on whether or not Belichick or Tom Brady is more important to the Patriots dynasty.

Why can't both be just as important as the other? No matter who the Patriots have on their roster, they seem to be contenders each and every season. Death, taxes, and the Patriots making a deep playoff run are the only guarantees in life.

Last year, Belichick showed his moxie by being able to shut down Sean McVay's high-flying offense in the Super Bowl. New England held the Los Angeles Rams to just three points to shock the world.

Belichick is undoubtedly the best coach in the NFL but who is behind him right now? Andy Reid? Sean Payton? Doug Pederson? McVay?

That's a discussion for another day but there's likely a sizable gap between Belichick and the second-best coach in the NFL.

It's been that way for plenty of years and Cowherd happens to agree with that sentiment.
