The New England Patriots are currently without a plan at quarterback. Or, at least, they are without a public plan.

However, BetOnline.ag seems to have some guesses. They have released odds for who the starting quarterback will be for the Patriots in the 2021 season. And current Houston Texans quarterback Deshaun Watson tops that list:

“Patriots starting QB in Week 1 of 2021 Reg.Season
Deshaun Watson +300
Jarrett Stidham +500
Trevor Lawrence +500
Kyle Trask +700
Dak Prescott +900”

That's an interesting leader. A couple of days ago people probably would've thought that impossible. Clearly Watson would sign a massive contract with the Texans, right?

However, since then, they have traded superstar wide receiver DeAndre Hopkins for a pretty measly return. That has to make you wonder what direction they are headed in and if Watson will even want to return when his contract expires after the 2020 season.

If he doesn't, the Patriots would definitely be prime candidates to scoop him up.

Next up is Jarrett Stidham, who is technically their starting quarterback at the moment. To be honest, the only reason he's so high up on this list is because he's in that position right now. It's unlikely he remains their starter though.

Clemson's Trevor Lawrence is an odd one because many people see him as the top pick in the 2021 NFL Draft. New England would need to really tank to get him, but maybe without Brady, that's the plan for a year. Still, it seems unlikely.

Kyle Trask of Florida is up next. He's sort of in the same boat as Lawrence. However, he has a much high chance of falling down the draft board, so the Patriots wouldn't have to tank as much for him. Despite that, he still has worse odds than Lawrence.

Finally, there's Dak Prescott. The Dallas Cowboys have made it clear they want him long-term, but have yet to agree to a contract extension with Prescott, so maybe the end of their relationship is closer than they realize.

For now though, none of those players except Stidham is even on the Patriots roster. A lot can happen between now and the start of the 2021 season. Which means we will likely see new names enter this list, as the speculation continues. It should be fun.
