Rob Gronkowski has said that he plans to stay retired but New England Patriots wide receiver Julian Edelman still isn't completely sold that last the entire 2019 season.

The Patriots are thin at the tight end position so it would make sense if Gronkowski wanted to come back and join the team, they would welcome him with open arms.

Even though Edelman isn't completely sold that Gronkowski is retired for good, he says it's not something he is focusing on.

“You know, I don’t know,” Edelman admitted about Gronkowski staying retired via Boston.com. “If he does, hey, that’s awesome. We need it. But you know you’re not really worried about that. You’re worried about the Jets, and who you’re playing, your opponent this week. and that’s just how it goes.”

During Week 6, Gronkowski made his first appearance as a member of the Fox NFL Sunday pregame show. He received rave reviews for his insight including from Edelman.

“Pretty standard Gronk,” Edelman said of Gronkowski’s first segment. “Thought it was awesome. I think he’s great for TV. But on to the Jets.”

Gronkowski seems to be enjoying his time on the pregame show and if he ever wanted to he would seem like a natural fit as an analyst in the TV booth.

Gronkowski's body took a beating during his NFL career which he has hinted at as a reason why he doesn't want to return. It is Gronkowski, though, and he has surprised people before so maybe we will still see him playing for the Patriots on Sunday.
