The New England Patriots' offense sustained a big blow when play-caller Josh McDaniels was hired to be the new head coach of the Las Vegas Raiders. McDaniels' departure has forced Patriots head coach Bill Belichick to think outside the box when it comes to McDaniels replacements. Now, the Patriots have a bold idea involving former New York Giants head coach and New England special teams coach Joe Judge following the departure of McDaniels, according to Ian Rapoport of NFL Network.

The Patriots are considering bringing Joe Judge back to their coaching staff. However, Judge would have the title of “offensive assistant”, a position that would seem to come with a variety of different roles. This is likely not what fans had in mind when they were thinking of possible Josh McDaniels replacements.

In fact, Judge potentially isn't even being considered a McDaniels replacement, as the Patriots may not even hire one!

Judge's reputation isn't in the best shape following his failed tenure at the helm for the Giants, though his presence would certainly provide some added leadership on the staff, as noted by Rapoport.

Doubting Bill Belichick isn't a successful endeavor, though it's currently hard to see how this bold Joe Judge idea will work following the departure of Josh McDaniels.
