Recent reports suggest that there has not been much headway made in the negotiations between the New England Patriots and quarterback Tom Brady. The rumors of his “non-productive” meeting with head coach Bill Belichick have only raised further speculation regarding his looming free agent status.

The report stated that the two had a conversation on the phone that did not result in very much progress being made on Brady's new deal. According to ESPN NFL Insider Adam Schefter, both sides are still doing their due diligence.

Bill Belichick and Tom Brady have spoken recently, but those talks were not yesterday and the tone of their discussion was “business as usual”, per source. Still many questions left to answer.

The rumors suggested that Belichick was negotiating as if Brady was still under contract. Of course, this will only be true until the new league year starts on March 18. Even if the negotiations are part of the process, the lack of progress at this point is still a cause for concern given the little time they have left until he is allowed to test the market.

There has certainly been no shortage of speculation surrounding potential landing spots for Brady if he does leave New England. Although the Tennessee Titans and Los Angeles Chargers have emerged as the frontrunners to land his services, it seems the San Francisco 49ers also plan to enter the sweepstakes this offseason.

Of course, all the leaks could simply be a bargaining tool Brady's camp is using for negotiations. Regardless, it is clear that both sides are in no rush to bend on their price range.
