The Patriots’ Tom Brady and the Packers’ Aaron Rodgers squared off for just the second time in their careers on Sunday. With Brady already 41 years old and their next scheduled meeting still four years away in 2022, it’s quite possible that that might have been the last time the two all-time great quarterbacks will ever meet.

However, Brady appears confident that he can stick around for four more years to make a third meeting with Rodgers a reality.

Per Peter King of NBC Sports:

So Brady—who told me after the game he fully intends to be around for the 2022 Brady-Rodgers match—this year has beaten the Tweens (Deshaun Watson, Patrick Mahomes), the middle-aged (Andrew Luck) and the legend type (Rodgers).

Brady-Rodgers II didn’t exactly live up to the immense hype. Neither Brady nor Rodgers was quite at his best as the Patriots ran away with a comfortable 31-17 win.

While Brady has been consistent in his desire to play until his mid-40s, it’s still anyone’s guess whether he can actually follow through with that highly ambitious goal. Brady has not looked his sharpest this season and is showing some signs that his powers might finally be slipping.

And even if Brady does manage to survive four more years, it’s highly unlikely that he can still perform at such a high level as a 45-year-old. Rodgers would also be 38 years old by that point and may be on the decline himself.

Nevertheless, it would still be quite a feat if Brady did successfully achieve his goal to get a rubber match with Rodgers.
