The New England Patriots will not have a downtown parade this year after failing to defend their Super Bowl title against the Philadelphia Eagles in Super Bowl LII. What that also means is that Tom Brady remains with “only” five Super Bowl wins in his career. If it’s any consolation for Brady, though, his performance in the game was enough to set a new record for most passing yards in a Super Bowl matchup, according to Charean Williams of Pro Football Talk.

The 40-year-old Brady finished the game with 505 passing yards and three touchdowns on 28-of-48 completions without getting picked off. While these numbers were not enough for Brady to prevent losing 41-33 to the Eagles, he did manage to eclipse the 466 passing yards he had last year, when New England took down the Atlanta Falcons in Super Bowl LI.

The loss to the Eagles was a disappointing conclusion to the Patriots’ 2017 season, which was otherwise a terrific one for the franchise. With Brady orchestrating the offense, the Pats managed to win the AFC East title for the ninth consecutive season and reach the Super Bowl for the third time since 2015. Brady also led the NFL during the regular season with 4,577 passing yards, garnishing it with 32 touchdowns against only eight interceptions.

Brady has said that he plans to continue playing amid some rumors that he might hang it up at the end of the 2017 season. If so, then Tom Brady will be on the hunt for his sixth Super Bowl title again next season.
