New England Patriots quarterback Tom Brady might not try to break the bank in free agency but he might ask for a two-year commitment to come back to Foxbourgh. Jeff Howe of The Athletic is reporting that Brady isn't going to take a $5 million dollar salary, but he isn't going to put the team in a bad situation.

Last year Brady wanted a two-year contract, with guaranteed money in the second round, but the team wouldn't budge.

“Last year when the sides renegotiated Brady’s contract, Brady wanted guaranteed money for the 2020 season to assure his own job security. The Patriots didn’t want to go that far, or at least not with an acceptable amount of guaranteed money. That’s why they compromised – the Pats were essentially only on the hook for 2019 with a 42-year-old quarterback, and Brady got an $8 million raise, freedom from the franchise tag and the voided language that assured the Patriots’ likelihood of a decision on his future prior to the March 18 start of free agency.”

The big question is what will the Patriots do. Brady does have a lot of leverage this offseason and if that's something he wants, it's something he can get from a different team if the Patriots aren't willing to offer it.

This will be one of the more fascinating stories to watch this offseason, and there will probably be some hard stances taken by both teams during negotiations. If Tom Brady doesn't get it, maybe he will be a member of the Las Vegas Raiders next season.
