The New England Patriots were facing a fourth-and-six. Down by seven with just over three minutes to go in the game, they needed to make a play. Who else to do so, but Tom Brady. However, this was not how you'd expect Brady to pick up a first down. He did not do it with his arm, but with his legs.

The pocket began to collapse and Brady had to step up. That being said, there was still some time and a defender near him with a receiver running a close route.

So this was not the type of situation you would usually see the future Hall of Fame quarterback run in.

He did though, and he picked up more than enough yardage.

Look at that blazing speed. The man should be a running back.

In all seriousness, that was a surprising run from Brady. He took off relatively quickly, but it just shows how smart he is.

Brady recognized that the entire left side of the field was open, so a first down was guaranteed if he decided to take off. So of course, he had to go.

Not only did Brady get the first, he got another 11 yards as well, sliding down for a 17-yard rush. That's his longest run since 2014.

This kept the Patriots' hopes alive, if only momentarily. New England ended up turning the ball over on downs and losing the game by the final score of 23-16.

The loss pushes the Patriots to 10-3 and the Chiefs to 9-4 in 2019. However, this play, in particular, showed the clutch-value of Brady. When the game is on the line, he's someone you want on your team.

Brady can do anything to help a team make winning plays, and he showed that here by going deep into his bag of tricks for a 17-yard pick up on the ground.
