The New Orleans Pelicans might be forced to trade Anthony Davis by the end of the month because of a stipulation in his current contract.

According to Bobby Marks of ESPN, Davis has a 15 percent trade kicker, which is worth $4 million after July 1. It will likely be a major factor in the current negotiation for a Davis trade, as the trade kicker would significantly affect the salary matching aspect of a trade involving the Pelicans superstar.

The Pelicans have started listening to offers for Davis, who informed New Orleans earlier this year that he wants out of the franchise. As expected, the Los Angeles Lakers are aggressively pursuing Davis, while the Boston Celtics are also showing strong interest in arranging a trade with the Pelicans.

According to Adrian Wojnarowski of ESPN, the Lakers offered Brandon Ingram and Lonzo Ball along with the fourth pick in the draft to the Pelicans. The Lakers could also use the pick to acquire another trade chip from a third team to convince the Pelicans. New Orleans reportedly wants Kyle Kuzma in the deal, but Los Angeles wants to keep him.

As for Boston, the Celtics are still willing to take a gamble on Davis. The Celtics know that Davis will likely be a one-year rental for them, but they are determined to make a run. Boston feels that acquiring Davis would also mean keeping Kyrie Irving, who is set to become an unrestricted free agent after the season.
