Anthony Davis may have already left the New Orleans Pelicans, but he's still excited about the team's future, particularly because of the potential of this year's first overall pick, Zion Williamson.

In an interview with Sports Illustrated's Alaa Abdeldaiem, AD said that he cannot wait to see what Williamson does in the league. He also had some nice words to say about the Duke University product.

“He’s really athletic, a freakish athlete. He’s got a lot of hype around him, and I’m excited to see how he does in the Summer League and how he performs in the NBA. I don’t know him personally, but to get to this point, everybody works hard. Nobody is here by mistake. I’m excited to see him and what he’s able to do.”

Williamson is set to fill the shoes left by Davis, who was traded to the Los Angeles Lakers last month. The 19-year-old is expected to be the focal point of the Pelicans' offense, which might be too much to ask from a rookie.

But Zion is no ordinary player. A lot of people are already saying that he has the potential to be the best player in the league within five years, with some even saying that he could be the next LeBron James.

But Williamson has to prove himself first, and that will begin next season. The Pelicans will begin the post-AD era, and they are hoping that Zion, along with the rest of their young core, will be able to make them successful, something that they once hoped AD would accomplish.
