Despite his son, Lonzo Ball, recently getting evicted from the bright lights of Hollywood, LaVar Ball seems to have lost not a single bit of self-belief on his son and, of course, on himself.

Speaking to Stephen A. Smith on ESPN's “First Take,” LaVar explained why Lonzo's recent trade to the New Orleans Pelicans is something that the Ball family patriarch had envisioned all along.

This is no longer something that surprises us, as LaVar has long been known to be someone that would literally say anything just to make himself and his sons look good. Some might even say that he sometimes goes to the extent of extreme exaggeration and fabrication of half-truths, and this is exactly what Stephen A. accused him of on the program.

Smith was visibly upset with what LaVar was saying, and he could not help but call out Ball for what seemed to be utter BS. Then again, this is LaVar we're talking about here, so this definitely does not come as a shock.

We can't blame Smith for feeling so irritated, though, as Ball appeared to be blatantly lying to his face on national television.

At the end of the day, this is LaVar doing what he does best — sucking in all the attention to himself and leaving barely any spotlight for Lonzo, and thereby letting his son focus on his basketball.

At this point, Lonzo will definitely need to be at his best coming into the new season with the Pelicans, as he enters an entirely new phase in his young career.
