With the NBA's trade deadline roughly two months away, teams around the league are already scouting players who they feel might bolster their respective rosters. One such player is New Orleans Pelicans forward Derrick Favors, who is reportedly drawing interest from several teams.

According to league sources, one of the more disappointing players on one of the league’s more disappointing teams—Derrick Favors of the Pelicans—is being “monitored” by several teams. There’s still no indication that New Orleans, with Favors having missed time because of back spasms and the death of his mother, will raise a metaphorical white flag, sell off veteran pieces and look ahead to next season.

The Pelicans had relatively high hopes for this season, despite the fact that they traded Anthony Davis to the Lakers this offseason. New Orleans drafted Duke phenom Zion Williamson with the No. 1 overall pick, but he's currently recovering from arthroscopic knee surgery and isn't expected to be back until sometime later this month. Now, through the first quarter of the 2019-20 campaign, New Orleans is holding a 6-18 overall record, which is 5.5 games behind 8th place.

Favors, who's on the final year of his contract, has missed some time this season due to back issues. According to several reports, he's going to be held out of Wednesday night's game against the Bucks.

In his nine appearances with the Bucks this season, Favors has racked up averages of 8.3 points on 62.1 percent shooting from the field (50.0 percent from beyond the arc), 8.9 rebounds and 2.1 assists in 21.0 minutes per outing.

Whether or not Favors will indeed be dealt remains to be seen. He would be a fine addition for any team looking for a solid presence in the paint.
