Could New Orleans Pelicans star forward Anthony Davis be the next big man out of the Big Easy? Reports say that tension already exists in New Orleans following the uncertainty of Davis' future with the team.

ESPN's Brian Windhorst wrote a column on The Brow's path to become one of the greatest all-time, and how his future with the Pelicans could unfold.

More to the point, if Davis isn't feeling the franchise next summer, when it can offer him a five-year extension for around $240 million, there's going to be problems. Big problems.

That reality is just below the surface on every decision that is taking place in New Orleans right now. Just being around the team and talking to its players, coaches and executives, the tension exists. To pretend it doesn't isn't genuine. That makes this season pretty important for the future of the franchise.

Selected by NBA GMs as the consensus best power forward and best center that we have in the league right now, Davis' stock has been piling so high that people in the Pelicans' front office are concerned that the five-time All-Star will walk away when he becomes a free agent in 2020.

While the supporting cast in New Orleans is not too shabby in the recent years, you could argue that the team was more of a one-man show in long stretches. In the absence of former Pelicans star DeMarcus Cousins during the playoffs last season, Davis went on an absolute tear as he normed eye-popping averages of 30.1 points, 13.4 rebounds, 2.3 blocks, and 2.0 steals.

The team brought in versatile forward Julius Randle to make up for the loss of Cousins, but many predict that a deeper playoff run for the Pelicans is still out of question this season.
