New Orleans Pelicans rookie Zion Williamson is reportedly interested in participating in the Rising Stars game, which will take place on Friday during the 2020 NBA All-Star Weekend, according to Marc J. Spears of The Undefeated.

The Pelicans standout has played in three games since returning from a torn meniscus injury, slowly ramping up his minutes and has yet to miss any matchups due to injury management.

Williamson could join the likes of Trae Young and fellow rookies Ja Morant and Michael Porter Jr. on the court as part of Team USA, matching up against MVP hopeful Luka Doncic and Team World.

The star rookie is averaging 19.3 points and 8.0 rebounds per game since making his debut, already with two 20-point games in his bag.

While many would love to see him take part in the game, it's likely that the Pelicans have a plan to keep him healthy for the rest of the season, which might include him sitting out during the mid-February festivities.

If he does play, it's likely he will be kept on a slight minute restriction to allow him to save his legs a bit before the second half of the season gets underway after the All-Star break.

If the Pelicans are to make a postseason push, they will need a healthy Zion Williamson on the floor to accomplish that, still 4.5 games behind a red-hot Memphis Grizzlies team.

Should Williamson participate, it would bring a whole new layer of attention and competition for an otherwise preface to All-Star Saturday and the All-Star Game on Sunday.
