The first overall pick of the 2021 NBA Draft has yet to make his debut for the Detroit Pistons. The highly-touted Cade Cunningham is still dealing with an ankle problem and, at this point, it doesn't sound like he's going to be taking the court in the immediate future.

Pistons head coach Dwane Casey provided another update on the status of his young star. Right now, Detroit has refused to pencil in a target date for Cunningham's much-anticipated debut:

“He practiced with (the Motor City Cruise) all week,” Casey said, via Pistons insider James Edwards III of The Athletic. “He's going to practice with us tomorrow. There's no set date (for his return).”

Casey previously stated that if it were up to Cunningham, he would have already taken the court. However, the Pistons are being extremely cautious on their prized guard and it only makes sense that they don't risk his long-term health.

What's a tad concerning here is the fact that Detroit has not set a date for Cunningham's first NBA game. It doesn't sound like he's suffered a setback with his ankle injury, but the fact that there is a lack of certainty here is intriguing, at the very least. Then again, the Pistons could just be keeping mum about Cade's upcoming debut, and he could very well take the court in one of the team's next games. For now, we will all need to just wait and see.
