The game between the Toronto Raptors and Brooklyn Nets on Friday night was marred by the mysterious situation of Kevin Durant who was pulled midway through the tilt. A contact tracing situation abruptly hindered him from getting the starting nod against the Raptors minutes before the tip-off. But for some reason, he was able to enter the game later on, only to be pulled out of it once again.

Raptors forward Pascal Siakam responded to the situation and claimed that he didn't know the details behind it until after the game, via Josh Lewenberg.

Meanwhile, Raptors veteran Kyle Lowry bared that everyone's safety remains to be the utmost priority during games, especially amid the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic.

Backup playmaker Bruce Brown started in Durant's place to begin the game. The 32-year-old star then came off the bench midway through the opening frame. He eventually saw a significant amount of action until he was pulled out during the third quarter due to the league's health and safety protocols.

Durant finished the game with total tallies of eight points, six rebounds, and five assists in 19 minutes of action against Toronto. Joe Harris stepped up in light of his absence and scored 19 points while Kyrie Irving and Jeff Green both added 15 points apiece.

With the absence of the former MVP, the Nets couldn't overcome a great game by Pascal Siakam who generated 33 points, 11 rebounds, and six assists for the Raptors. Kyle Lowry also came out with a huge performance of 30 points, five rebounds, and seven assists of his own.

The Toronto-based squad eventually escaped Brooklyn with a 123-117 victory to further improve to a 10-12 record. They also extended their ongoing winning streak to three games to nab the seventh spot in the Eastern Conference.

Due to the situation, Kevin Durant won't be traveling with his team on the way to Philadelphia for their upcoming tilt against the 76ers on Feb. 6. He is also in danger of missing more games next week depending on the development of his situation in the coming days.
