The sweepstakes for Baltimore Ravens' backup kicker, Kaare Vedvik seems to be closed. To the dismay of Chicago Bears fans, the Ravens have traded Vedvik to the Minnesota Vikings for a 2020 fifth-round pick per Adam Schefter of ESPN.

Multiple teams expressed interest in acquiring Vedvik after the kicker impressed in his preseason debut against the Jacksonville Jaguars. Despite his talent, Vedvik was never going to get a chance to start in Baltimore with arguably the league's best kicker in Justin Tucker on the roster.

Against Jacksonville, Vedvik attempted four field-goals and made all of them. Furthermore, Vedvik made two field-goal attempts of over 40 yards—including a 55-yard bomb.

If making field goals wasn't enough, Vedvik also punted the ball twice, averaging 55.5 yards per punt. It's safe to say that Minnesota was eager to land the kicking phenom, surrendering a fifth-rounder for him.

Before becoming a kicking sensation this preseason, Vedvik began his career as an undrafted rookie out of Marshall in 2018. Vedvik never saw the field last year after the team placed him on the non-football injury list.

Currently, Minnesota has Dan Bailey as their kicker but seeing they gave up a mid-round selection for Vedvik, Bailey's time with the Vikings may be coming to an end. Bailey made 21 of his 28 field-goal attempts in 2018 with the Vikings.

Minnesota has been longing for a reliable kicker on their team since Blair Walsh missed his infamous 27-yard chip shot during the Vikings 2016 Wild Card game against the Seattle Seahawks.

Since then, the Vikings have used Bailey and Kai Forbath as their place-kicker.
