Many fantasy baseball managers likely selected and stashed Cincinnati Reds starting pitcher Luis Castillo with the hopes of getting him back relatively early in the season. Castillo, whose start to the season was delayed by shoulder soreness, has begun his rehab assignment and remains on track for a return to the rotation soon. Reds manager David Bell provided a specific update on when exactly fantasy baseball managers can expect to slot Castillo back into their lineups, as reported by Bobby Nightengale of The Enquirer.

Per Nightengale, Reds manager David Bell told reporters that he expects Luis Castillo to make two more rehab starts before rejoining the big league rotation. That leaves the Reds hurler on pace to return in early-May, perhaps slightly later than the team initially forecasted.

It makes sense that the Reds are taking things slow with Castillo's rehab, considering the 29-year-old ace missed all of spring training due to his shoulder setback. A return in early May would allow fantasy baseball managers to get nearly a full season out of Castillo, an excellent boost for their respective rotations.

The Reds righty owns a career 3.72 ERA with 9.8 strikeouts per nine innings across five seasons. Castillo has the potential to be a rock-solid SP2 or SP3 in all formats if able to stay healthy upon returning.
