On Friday, ESPN aired ‘Project 11', a documentary about Alex Smith and how he overcame a devastating leg injury with the Washington Redskins. Shortly after the feature was aired, Dwayne Haskins shared his reaction to the ‘Project 11' documentary.

Heading into his rookie season, Haskins was given a chance to compete for Washington's starting quarterback spot with Case Keenum. However, just the season before, Smith was acquired by the Redskins to be the starter.

Sadly, Smith suffered a scary leg injury that would cut his 2018 season short. While it was unfortunate to see Smith miss games, his leg injury went beyond the football field. As a matter of fact, after sustaining the injury, Smith was almost required to amputate his leg.

Nevertheless, after multiple surgeries and a positive attitude, Smith is walking again and hopes to return to the NFL. Amid his recovery, Smith spent the 2019 season watching games in the suite with owner Dan Snyder. At the same time, he went out of his way to help Haskins in the latter part of his rookie season.

For Haskins, he was able to start in seven games during the 2019 campaign with the Redskins. Over the course of those seven starts, Haskins would throw for 1,225 yards, seven touchdowns, and three interceptions. At the least, he began to show vast improvements in his game toward the end of the season.

Regardless of where he's played, teammates and coaches have praised Smith for his leadership on and off of the field. Even while he was recovering from a gruesome leg injury, Smith's leadership never wavered. His support for Haskins seems to have left a lasting impression on the young quarterback.
