The Washington Redskins put on a brilliant fight against the New York Giants as Dwayne Haskins started the game hot. He managed to match everything Daniel Jones was doing until he was carted off with an ankle injury.

It was a shame for Washington fans that their promising quarterback had to miss the remainder of the rookie bout. However, team owner Dan Snyder did say something that many Washington fans will surprisingly agree with: he stopped Haskins from forcing a comeback into the game.

John Keim of ESPN NFL Nation reported that Haskins revealed his intentions to return to the game. However, Snyder discouraged him from making a return to the game.

Richmond Times-Dispatch's Michael Phillips added details to the story, revealing that the team doctor discouraged him from coming back into the game as it would have aggravated the injury.

The Redskins are not playing for the playoffs as they were bumped out of the race weeks ago. Risking their future franchise player to further injury just for the sake of winning against the Giants is a total waste of time.

Case Keenum did a solid job covering for Haskins. The veteran completed 16 of his 22 pass attempts for 158 yards and one touchdown. His solid performance in the pocket kept the Redskins within striking distance for most of the game.

While it was unfortunate that Haskins had to leave early, his performance against Daniel Jones' Giants gives fans hope. He only missed three of his 15 pass attempts, completing 133 yards and two passing touchdowns.
