The Washington Redskins are a hard team to read right now. They started the year off 6-2 last year, and then completely collapsed due to injuries. They have three veteran quarterbacks on the roster right now, but two of them are dealing with serious leg injuries.

Alex Smith appears set to miss the entire 2019 season, while Colt McCoy just underwent a third procedure as he continues to recover slowly from his fractured leg. The team traded for Case Keenum this offseason, but that doesn't mean they're done adding to the position.

The Redskins “are in the market for a QB,” in this week's draft, according to Dianna Russini of ESPN.com. Washington has been playing coy, but it sounds like they are looking to use their first round pick on a quarterback after all. Russini also reports that “sources have indicated Dwayne Haskins is their target.”

If the Redskins really do want Haskins, they're likely going to have to trade up. The Redskins are currently slated to pick 15th overall, and Haskins will probably be long gone by then.

A lot of the teams at the top of this draft aren't looking for a passer, so there should be plenty of trade partners for teams like the Redskins who are looking to move up. The Jets pick third, and they've pretty much openly declared their desire to move down.

The Redskins are in desperate need of some excitement with the cloud hanging over the franchise right now. Haskins would inject some energy back into the team and could help save Jay Gruden's job. While they cycle through stopgap quarterbacks, Washington is going to have to draft the future at some point, and Haskins makes a lot of sense.
