With the NBA set to release the schedule for the upcoming 2016-2017 season sometime within the next week, there are certain games fans look forward to seeing more than others. We can begin to eagerly anticipate what matchups await us on Christmas Day. What has become one of the better Christmas traditions is gathering around with the family for a full day of basketball.

It is pretty safe to assume that we could very well see an NBA finals rematch between the Cleveland Cavaliers and the new look Warriors featuring Kevin Durant. On top of that, according to Kevin O’Connor of The Ringer, we could also be seeing a match up between the New York Knicks and the Celtics.

Both of these teams have boast new additions to their rosters. In the offseason the Celtics added former Atlanta Hawks big man Al Horford while the Knicks added Derrick Rose, Joakim Noah, Brandon Jennings, and Courtney Lee.

Boston has already solidified its position as an Eastern Conference playoff team, and with the addition of Horford they are looking to take the next step. The Knicks have had a tough couple of seasons but the East is always open and their additions might help them reach the playoffs this year. With that in mind, this Christmas Day teaser could potentially be a playoff matchup.
