Free agent forward Georges Niang has agreed to a partially guaranteed contract with the Golden State Warriors, according to ESPN's Adrian Wojnarowski. The deal will allow Niang to play for the team's G-League affiliate Santa Cruz Warriors for the majority of the upcoming season.

The Iowa State product was waived by the Indiana Pacers last month after playing 23 games with the franchise in very limited playing time.

Niang only played six games for the Fort Wayne Mad Ants, tallying averages of 19.0 points, 7.2 rebounds, and 3.3 assists per game, assuring his ability of making winning plays just like he did in his college days.

The 24-year-old has proved to have a team-first mentality at the forward position and has been a willing passer during his college career and his short time in the pros, giving him a unique skillset to make up for his lack of athleticism.

Niang impressed during his Summer League stint earlier this offseason, but the Pacers have clearly chosen to start anew, waiving him and paying only $100,000 of his contract for next season.

While not a polished defender yet, the former Cyclone has enough tools at his disposal to carve an NBA career, but he will have to showcase it during his time with Santa Cruz in order to rise through the ranks.
