New Houston Rockets signee Carmelo Anthony finally addressed whether he will start or come off the bench for his new team.

There has been speculation that he'll be coming off the Rockets bench after he refused to come off the bench with the Oklahoma City Thunder last season. Speaking to TMZ, however, Anthony said that he'd rather wait and see how things progress before commenting.

“Let’s just let it play out,” said Anthony. “I don’t even know what’s going on. I just signed, let it start first.”

Anthony claims that fans need to be patient and see what will happen during games. Anthony has been a starter all his career, joining Patrick Ewing as the only NBA players who started in each of their first 1,000 games, but that streak will likely end this year. The Rockets roster is deep and they have proven scorers in James Harden, Chris Paul and Eric Gordon.

Melo will likely be asked to come in off the bench every now and then, especially since his numbers have dipped as evident in last season with the Oklahoma City Thunder. The sweet-shooting forward normed 16.2 points while shooting 40 percent from the field – all career lows.

In Houston, he will reunite with great friend Chris Paul and former Knicks coach Mike D'Antoni. There is no doubt Anthony can still light it up on the scoreboard, the thing is how can he do it efficiently and consistently. At 34 years old, he already has many mileage in his body,  he needs to reserve his energy until the playoffs so he can propel his team forward against a stacked Western Conference.
