The bizarre case of DeMarcus Cousins' ejection on Monday night was explained after the game by the NBA. Well, sort of. The Houston Rockets back-up center was in familiar territory on Monday as he was disqualified from their match against the Dallas Mavericks for two quick technical fouls in three minutes. To date, Cousins has already tallied 136 total career techs.

The league office on officiating and rules released a report after the game to clarify the case on Boogie's ejection on Monday night. Per NBA Official on Twitter, Cousins received his second technical foul for an “overt gesture directed at an official in resentment of a non-call.”

Here are both plays early in the second quarter where DeMarcus Cousins got his two techs:

The first technical foul call was rather straightforward. DeMarcus Cousins got tangled up with fellow Kentucky alum Willie Cauley-Stein on a dead ball and a mini-shoving match resulted to double technical fouls called on them both. No questions here.

The second, however, was a bit more suspect. DeMarcus Cousins drove hard to the basket and took advantage of his heft against Mavs' guard Jalen Brunson. Cousins felt he got fouled on the play and raised his hands after converting the bucket. He was immediately called for his second technical foul and was ejected from the game.

In all fairness, Boogie did seem to be very upset about the non-call and had his hands swinging. He also probably said some sweet nothings towards the official which caused him to be tossed out. But to side with DeMarcus Cousins, calling a second tech on him early in the game was rather premature.

It's also important to note that the officials assigned to the game between the Rockets and the Mavs were not having it on Monday. They called a total of seven technical fouls on the evening. DeMarcus Cousins, though, was in the front of the line.
