After punishing Dallas Mavericks owner Mark Cuban, the NBA also fined the Houston Rockets for the comments made by Tilman Fertitta on Russell Westbrook before the trade was made official.

According to Marc Stein of The New York Times, the Rockets were fined $25,000.

Fertitta apparently made a public statement about Russell Westbrook short of the official completion of the transaction between Houston and the Oklahoma City Thunder

The Rockets traded 34-year-old point guard Chris Paul and picks for Westbrook, who leaves OKC after 11 years with the franchise. The former league MVP will reunite with his former Thunder teammate James Harden in Clutch City.

The billionaire Fertitta purchased the team prior to the 2017-18 NBA season for a record-breaking $2.2 billion.

Mavs owner Mark Cuban was fined today too for leaking information about a sensitive material from a Board of Governors meeting. Fertitta joins him in the penalty box after mentioning to a local Fox affiliate that he is excited to welcome Westbrook.

Fertitta also commented on Chris Paul's departure, saying they we wouldn’t have accomplished two consecutive 50-plus win seasons without the help of the All-Star and future Hall of Famer.

The Rockets' makeover will be fiercely debated until the fall, when we at long last get a glimpse of how a 2019 Harden-Westbrook backcourt will mesh together.
