Basketball Hall of Famer Isiah Thomas appears to have some extremely high hopes on the new pairing of James Harden and Russell Westbrook with the Houston Rockets.

So much so, that the former 12-time All-Star has already declared the Rockets to be his favorite to come out on top of the Western Conference in the upcoming season.

On the onset, it does seem like Thomas is reaching a bit here, especially considering how the chemistry between the two most ball-dominant players in the league might pose as a problem. Nonetheless, the former two-time NBA champ does a great job expounding on his point, stating that in his mind, he believes that these two superstars are just too good not to figure this out.

Thomas also points out that when both Harden and Westbrook are on the floor at the same time, defenses will have a very difficult time coping with two of the league's best offensive juggernauts. Not to mention that the Rockets also possess a tremendous supporting cast in Eric Gordon, PJ Tucker, and Clint Capela, to name a few.

Nonetheless, despite presenting a very valid argument here, it is still hard to ignore the other newly-formed dynamic duos in the West.

Kawhi Leonard and Paul George of the Los Angeles Clippers are widely regarded as the favorites to go all the way this season, with the Los Angeles Lakers duo of LeBron James and Anthony Davis not very far behind. Stephen Curry and Draymond Green/D'Angelo Russell might also have a thing or two to say about Thomas' claim here.

What is certain however, is that the pairing of Harden and Westbrook will definitely be fun to watch, and it is yet another aspect of the new season we just can't wait to see.
