Along with the glitz and glamour of the NBA lifestyle comes the caveat of having to live one's life under a microscope. This is exactly what Brooklyn Nets newcomer Kevin Durant recently spoke about, and in KD's mind, all the scrutiny definitely takes its toll.

For his part, Houston Rockets superstar James Harden seems to be on the same page with his former Oklahoma City Thunder teammate, saying he tries to just dial out all the outside noise:

“Stay away from it. I just try to live as normal as I can,” Harden said, via Dan Adler of Vanity Fair. “And stay away from the politics, stay away from social media—stay away from all that stuff. Travel, stay motivated, stay focused on family, friends, and find that space every single day to clear your mind.”

Having been living in the brightest of spotlights for the better part of his career, Harden has grown adept to this type of lifestyle, and it appears he has been able to strike a balance between living a very public life while also keeping the more important aspects of his life private.

Nevertheless, Harden admits he completely agrees with Durant when it comes to the overwhelming nature of living in the limelight:

“Because he’s right: You can get overwhelmed at some points, especially when you involve yourself in it 24 hours a day,” added Harden. “For me, I try to stay away from it as much as I can, and just try to smile, and try to just do things that make me happy. Once you do that, nobody can get you out of your space.”

It's obviously tough living under the constant scrutiny of the entire world day in and day out. However, it's hard to feel too sorry for Harden (who does not appear to be complaining), especially considering how he earns roughly $40 million per season in salary alone.
