With the MLB trade deadline coming up, the Andrew Benintendi situation will be an interesting one to monitor. The Kansas City Royals' All-Star outfielder is one of the better players that could be available at the deadline.

According to Mark Feinsand of MLB.com, Benintendi is still seeing tons of interest. There are even teams in the AL East that are showing interest in trading for the star outfielder.

Andrew Benintendi's reluctance to take the Covid-19 vaccine forbids him from playing in Canada, so whichever team trades for him will not get to play against the Toronto Blue Jays.

The fact that AL East teams are willing to trade for Benintendi is a testament to his talent. He has 102 hits and a triple-slash line of .317/.386/.401 in 87 games this season. The first two numbers in that line are career-highs but his slugging percentage is the lowest in his career (save for a 14-game sample in 2020). His ability to rack up hits, avoid strikeouts and defend would be valuable to any contender.

Even the Blue Jays themselves are interested in trading for Benintendi with the hopes that they can convince him to get vaccinated. The Royals star remains clear that not taking the vaccine is a personal choice and does not sound likely to change his mind.

With the MLB trade deadline coming up in less than two weeks, keep an eye out for the team that ends up with Andrew Benintendi in the end. The bidding war for him could heat up very soon and leave the Royals with some good, new prospects.
