Utah Jazz big man Rudy Gobert did not make the 2018-19 Western Conference All-Star team, and he and his mother did not take it very well.

The 26-year-old told reporters that his mother called him crying when she first heard the news, and in the process of telling the story, Gobert began weeping himself and walked away while wiping away his tears:

You may think Gobert is overreacting, but his reaction just goes to show how much NBA players care about their craft and how hard they work to get to this point.

On the season, Gobert is averaging 15 points, 12.8 rebounds, 2.2 assists and 2.2 blocks over 31.6 minutes per game while shooting a league-best 65 percent from the floor and 64.8 percent from the free-throw line.

The center, who came over to the NBA from France, was originally selected by the Denver Nuggets in the first round (27th pick overall) of the 2013 NBA Draft. However, he was immediately traded to the Jazz.

He played in just 45 games during his rookie campaign, registering 2.3 points and 3.4 boards a night, but the following year, Gobert broke out, posting 8.4 points, 9.5 rebounds and 2.3 blocks across 26.3 minutes a night while making 60.4 percent of his field-goal attempts and 62.3 percent of his foul shots.

Since then, Gobert has gone on to become one of the most destructive forces in the league, and last year, the Frenchman captured the Defensive Player of the Year award.

Utah currently owns a record of 29-23 and has been playing terrific basketball of late, having won nine of its last 11 games.
