Los Angeles Rams cornerback Aqib Talib will face off against Drew Brees and the New Orleans Saints high powered offense this Sunday. Unfortunately for the Rams, Talib was injured when the two teams met earlier this season.

Saints head coach Sean Payton had high praise for Talib and the difference he makes on the defense ahead of this Sunday's matchup.

“Well I think it’s significant. I think there’s a leadership element — a guy with a ton playoff experience, he’s been in the postseason, he’s an extremely, extremely smart player, and you see that on tape.”

Payton knows what Talib brings to a defense and how effective he can be in coverage. Talib may be a seasoned veteran, but he is still one of the more reliable corners in the league.

“He’s got real good ball skills as well, he’s got size, he can play press, he can play off in their zone coverages. I think anytime you have a starter back in your lineup, that’s a good thing.”
Talib and fellow cornerback Marcus Peters have the potential to be the best tandem in the league. Unfortunately, Peters has struggled at times throughout the season, and Talib missed most of the season due to a high ankle sprain in a winning effort over the Los Angeles Chargers. Now things are different in the sense that with Talib back, a lot of pressure is taken off Peters, and the defense has the potential it had at the start of the season.
