Simone Biles will return to the Tokyo Olympics after previously withdrawing from the competition due to mental health concerns.

USA Gymnastics confirmed that Biles will participate in the balance beam final for her country on Tuesday.

Simone Biles is regarded as one of the best gymnasts of all time, already winning a silver medal in the 2020 Tokyo Olympics before opting out of four different events. The all-around individual, the vault, the floor, and uneven bars.

The 24-year-old has been dealing with a case of the “twisties”, a gymnastic term where the athlete hits a mental block and struggles to make the necessary spins. Regardless, she received an outpour of support from numerous public figures across the globe for her courageous act of stepping away.

However, Tuesday presents an opportunity for Simone Biles to win a medal in the last event of the Tokyo Games after winning four golds at the 2016 Olympics in Rio. With Biles sitting out, 18-year-old Suni Lee stepped up and shined, winning gold in the all-around event while her teammate cheered her on from the sidelines.
