There are some who consider Philadelphia 76ers stud Ben Simmons to be the reincarnation of LeBron James. What a sight it would have been to witness these two players suit up for the same team if only James had opted to take his talents to The City of Brotherly Love instead of the Los Angeles Lakers.

In a recent interview, Simmons himself addressed this missed opportunity. The 22-year-old was straightforward about his regret, and shared his frustration about the potential team-up not coming to fruition.

Simmons sees the big picture and is not holding anything against LeBron for turning down the Sixers. The 2016 first overall pick understands that James' decision was more personal in nature and that no one can fault him for the same.

Simmons knows his career would have benefited greatly from having James as a mentor. He has seen greatness first hand and rues a missed chance to have learned from one of the best.

Nonetheless, Simmons also made it clear that despite their inability to secure the services of James, the Sixers remain to be a formidable side. With a year of experience under their belts, the young core of Simmons, Joel Embiid, Dario Saric, and Markelle Fultz will surely only get better.

Some Sixers supporters even believe that missing out on James could actually prove to be a blessing in disguise. He would have definitely taken the team to a whole new level, but could have also messed up their chemistry. For some, if not most, building a championship side from the ground up remains to be the best option.
