With just a few games before the NBA Playoffs, the Philadelphia 76ers need all the floor time they can get to develop more chemistry with James Harden.

But it seems Sixers coach Doc Rivers is more concerned about ensuring Harden will be in optimal condition in the postseason. The star guard sat out their game on Monday night against the Miami Heat, with Rivers opting to rest him alongside main man Joel Embiid on the second set of a back-to-back slate.

In a report by ESPN, Rivers clarified that Harden did not suffer a setback with his hamstring recovery, easing the concerns of some Sixers fans.

“We’re just being careful.”

The 32-year-old Harden has already missed a handful of games this season due to his hamstring injury, so presumably, he's not yet burned out at this point of the campaign and doesn't exactly need load management. But Rivers is erring on the side of caution, given The Beard's recent history of health issues.

After missing his first four games with the Sixers, Harden has played in 11 of their 12 games, serving as the perfect partner for Embiid.

With Harden and Embiid out against the Heat, guard Tyrese Maxey stepped once again for the handicapped Sixers with 28 points, 13 coming in the fourth quarter. He also made the game-saving block to seal the win, 113-106, and improve to 44-27.

The Sixers are expected to be back in full force on Wednesday against the Los Angeles Lakers.
