The Philadelphia 76ers have put the Toronto Raptors into a hole that they are very unlikely to climb out of. The Sixers won Game 3 of their first-round playoff series, taking a 3-0 series lead. It happened in incredibly dramatic fashion. With just over two seconds remaining in overtime, the Sixers inbounded to Joel Embiid who spun, and hit a fadeaway three-pointer. It was truly an amazing shot for anyone to make, never mind a seven foot tall center.

After the game, Sixers superstar point guard James Harden had a very simple explanation for it. Sixers reporter Lauren Rosen captured his thoughts.

“That's the MVP of the league right there,” Harden said.

As the regular season wound down, the battle for NBA MVP went back and forth between the Sixers' Joel Embiid, Bucks big man Giannis Antetokounmpo and reigning award winner Nikola Jokic from the Nuggets. When the season ended, most believed Jokic was the front-runner for the award.

Currently, the Nuggets are down 2-0 in their series against the Golden State Warriors. Jokic has played well, but not close to the level he played at during the regular season. Meanwhile, Antetokounmpo carried his team to a Game 1 win over the Chicago Bulls. But on Wednesday night, look to even that series. Chicago holds an eight-point lead late in the fourth quarter.

Yet, Embiid is still dominating games in the playoffs like he did during the season.

For many Sixers fans, this game and shot was cathartic. The last time Philadelphia played in Toronto for a playoff game, Kawhi Leonard crushed Sixers' fans dreams with one of the most incredulous shots ever seen. This shot from Embiid might not have won the series, but it might as well have. No team in NBA history has ever erased a 3-0 series deficit.
